Is it really Monday again? Where did the weekend go? We spent Saturday in Omaha, and Sunday was a great worship day at church so no post from this weekend; I'll get back in the swing of things soon!
Monday musing for today... a book I'm currently reading is The Power of One Thing by Dr. Randy Carlson. A friend from church loaned me her copy, and after reading only a few chapters, I knew that I needed to own this book. While I have yet to finish the book or to work through it as I plan to, I've read little snippets that have stirred the inner Becca... the think, think, thinking Becca.
What is one thing, a baby step if you will, that I can change today that can have a domino effect for my tomorrows? Case in point... I've been lamenting the creeping pounds post-baby, post-nursing mama. How do they get there? With as much running around I do and jogging up and down the stairs, I seriously wonder how I retain the poundage. In any event, I really want to lose those last 10 pounds.
I admit that I do like my afternoon snacks and after dinner treats after the kids are tucked in bed often find their way to my lips (and hips!). Yes, I could stand to renovate my relationship with food, but in the meantime, what is one thing I can do now. Reduce sugar! Yep, that's what we did. Ben and I cut back on our sugar and refined carbs, and we both lost weight this past week. I think I lost more due to my end-of-the-week date with the white commode, but I lost weight!
Now, the ugly thoughts of pessimism and defeat are creeping into my head, telling me that I've tried this before and it won't work, yada yada yada. But I combat it with the truth that I'm not out to be a size stick-thin; I'm out to change one behavior of my diet that needed to be changed whether I'm trying to lose weight or not. Will I cut out sugar completely or never allow the amazing taste of warm, white French baguettes pass by my lips again? Absolutely not! But I will focus on the power of ONE thing that I can do in the moment to perpetuate a cycle of positive change for my future. I'm excited to see what other one things I can change!
How about you? What can you change with ONE thing?
Blessings!
